Pole of economic, administrative and cultural services, Saluzzo owes its economic well-being to the flourishing agricultural economy of the territory. Travelling through the countryside surrounding the city, it is possible to encounter two distinct agricultural landscapes: to the north of the inhabited center it is easy to find open spaces cultivated with wheat, corn, and grass. All this is at the service of the important cattle breeding industry, in particular of the prized Piedmontese breed.
In the south and in the east, intensive and specialized fruit growing is predominant: rows of apple, kiwi, peach and apricot trees, with their anti-hail and irrigation systems, look like a huge and well-kept garden.
