Autumn

On the gentle hillside above the town, where there are dozens of hiking trails of all kinds, foliage explodes in all its colours.

The woods are full of chestnut trees and at weekends, as is traditional, you can taste the roasted chestnuts of the “mundaje” in front of the cathedral.

The community of Saluzzo is extremely attached to its traditions and popular devotions, which is why the autumn fair of Sant’Andrea is still extremely popular, an appointment that historically closes the summer season of agricultural work in the countryside. Today the event precedes the month of Christmas shopping, which begins on the first weekend in December: on the day of the Immaculate Conception, traders animate the streets of the centre.

Restaurants and trattorias serve the typical dishes of the autumn weeks: boiled meats, pumpkin, and chestnuts stuffed with pasta and tajarin, not forgetting a few slivers of white truffle coming directly from nearby Alba. All Saluzzo gourmets know the right place to find a good “trifula”!
