IGAV – Istituto Garuzzo per le Arti Visive, a non-profit cultural association based in Turin. It was founded in 2005 with the aim of contributing to the knowledge and appreciation of Italian contemporary art through the promotion of national and international exhibitions, exchanges between different countries, residencies, awards, and projects aimed at enhancing the expression of the visual arts by masters, emerging and young artists.
In 2009 IGAV started collaboration with the City of Saluzzo, which hosts the Garuzzo Institute Collection in the Castiglia complex. The 19th century sleeved houses exhibit the permanent Collection Exhibition, which since 2012 has been a “place of the contemporary”, the network of over 191 small and large national expressions of contemporary culture promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
The Collection is being constantly updated – the works, some of which belong to the Garuzzo Institute and others are on loan from artists, gallery owners and private individuals, illustrating the evolution of contemporary Italian art, offering a cross-section of the current art scene and its prospects. Inside, works by established and nationally and internationally acclaimed masters are flanked by works by young and emerging artists.
